Portland, ME is now struggling with the concept of banning high speed chases.
My main point is when at all possible, officers shouldn't run according to illegal perimeters.
Usually the people committing the crimes walk away with pavement on their face, maybe, while their victims get buried or debilitated.
From the first moment I watched a high speed chase on television, I felt something was very wrong with how fast variables change during consistent acceleration.
There does come a moment when neither good nor evil remains clear.
Both are acting in the same manner to accomplish two different agendas....hopefully.
Yes to following them ONLY up to 20 miles over the speed limit. Yes to parking-waiting in strategic lanes to your suspect. Yes to using spike-strips more often during each chase.
No to joining them at their game.
It glamourizes. It only satisfies the criminal, the stringer, the media and those of us who later watch it play out again on TV.
Police officers should stand on higher ground.
Focused more on protecting the general public and less foot on the gas.
Common sense tells us, if you want a dog to come to you, don't chase it.......
